What KAM-Q does that the others don't
There are good mail search tools for Windows. This page is about where KAM-Q is different, and where it isn't. The second part matters as much as the first.
Six reasons people choose KAM-Q
Not a longer feature list. A different set of places your mail search can live, and a different deal.
It runs on a Mac
Two apps, one for Outlook and one for Apple Mail, both signed and notarized by Apple. The Apple Mail version searches every account you have set up in Mail, including Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo and AOL.
It runs in a browser
Microsoft 365, Outlook.com and Gmail, with nothing to install. Add it to your phone's Home Screen and it opens full screen like an app.
A distinctive People view
Who writes to you most, when they usually write, how often, and every file they have ever sent.
It keeps working if you stop paying
Everything already indexed stays searchable, for as long as you like. A subscription pays for keeping the index current and for new versions, not for permission to open your own search results.
Nothing leaves your computer
There is no KAM-Q server, and that holds for the browser version too, which is the unusual part. Your mail goes straight from Microsoft or Google to your own browser and the index stays there.
One license covers four installations
Your laptop and your desktop, Windows and Mac together. X1 and Lookeen sell one seat per license.
And it costs a fraction of the price
X1 Search is $79 a year per person and Lookeen starts at $108 a year per person, each for a single installation, each on Windows only. KAM-Q renews at $19.99 and covers four installations. Put another way, one year of Lookeen Basic costs more than four years of KAM-Q, which covers four machines. Figures from x1.com and lookeen.com, October 2026.
Side by side
The rows that actually differ. Everything else, all three do.

The longer versions: KAM-Q vs X1 Search and KAM-Q vs Lookeen.
What KAM-Q does not do
Three things, said plainly, so nothing about this is a surprise after you buy. Two of them are choices rather than gaps.
It does not read inside your attachments
KAM-Q finds a file by its name, instantly. X1 and Lookeen read the contents of every document they index, which is part of why their scans take longer and their index is larger. If you need to find a contract by a clause written inside it rather than by its name, that is the one thing here worth weighing.
It does not search the rest of your computer
It is a mail tool. Windows Search and Spotlight already cover your documents and folders, and they came with your computer. We would rather do one thing properly than two things adequately.
It does not live inside Outlook
X1 and Lookeen appear as a panel within Outlook. KAM-Q runs in its own window beside it. That is the trade: an Outlook add-in can only ever be an Outlook add-in, and running as its own app is exactly what lets KAM-Q work the same way on Windows, on a Mac, in a browser and on your phone.
Try it before any of this matters
The demo runs in your browser with a sample mailbox. Nothing to install, nothing to sign in to, nothing to undo if you do not like it.
